What was your motivation?
I wanted to change how I looked. I never felt comfortable when I looked in the mirror.

What inspired you to keep going during the tough times?
What inspired me to keep going was a desire to get to a healthier me. I was determined to get this weight off no matter what.

I struggled for 20 years trying to lose weight, back and forth. I tried every diet that you can imagine. I was going to the gym, had two trainers, lost weight, and then I regained the weight again. So, I got tired of going and decided to do it on my own.

I researched what made my body gain weight and lose weight. Then I went to the doctor, and they suggested some solutions and told me what I had to do if I wanted weight loss surgery. So I did more research and talked to different people who had surgery.

Eventually, I decided to take that journey. On May 18, 2020, I had gastric sleeve surgery. I weighed 435 pounds at the time.
By August, I lost 85 pounds.
By December, I lost 60 more lbs
By February 2021, I lost 87 more lbs and continued to lose more and more
Today, I weigh 178 pounds, and I’m maintaining my success by eating healthy food and exercising.

How did you change your eating habits?
My eating habits definitely changed. I changed Everything that I was eating: that meant cutting out fried food, sweets, cookies, candy, and chips. I stopped eating these foods before and after the surgery. Now I eat healthy foods, like vegetables, fish, turkey, eggs, and other protein sources. Absolutely nothing fried. No sweets or chips.

What was your exercise routine?
Believe it or not, I didn’t exercise. The weight just fell off by me eating the right foods.

What is your height?
My height is 5’7″

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
My biggest lesson so far would be never to regain the weight again. I was miserable. I couldn’t tie my shoes. I couldn’t go up steps without being out of breath. I felt uncomfortable and fat in all the clothes I wore. It made me not like myself because of how I felt.

Now I have so much confidence, and I feel beautiful. I dress up just to see how I look in different outfits. I’m blown away by the progress I’ve made.

What advice would you like to share with women who want to lose weight?
Never give up on losing weight. If there is something that you want to change about your body, then do it. I did it, and I regret not doing it sooner due to listening to other people who talked me out of getting surgery. They scared me, saying that I was going to die from the procedure. They scared me, but I was miserable every day from being so obese and heavy. Now, regaining the weight terrifies me. That’s my motivation, and I will never be that big ever again.
