What was your motivation?
My motivation is my kids. I weighed 427 pounds and had t get my niece or other people’s kids to play with my kids because I couldn’t. Obesity runs in my family. My grandmother weighed over 500 pounds. I knew her struggle, so I didn’t want to go through that.

How long did your transformation take?
I’ve lost weight and gained it so many times, trying to find what is best for me because everybody is different. I got down to 182 pounds [total lost: 245 pounds], got pregnant, went back up to 280 pounds, had the baby, and got back down to 200 lbs. I started this whole journey in 2011. By 2015, I got a panectomy, an arm lift, and a breast lift because of the skin.

Then, I got pregnant again in 2020 and lost that child, which is my only daughter. Six months later, I was pregnant again (another boy), and now I have a 1-year-old.

I got up to 305 pounds, and now I’m losing it again. I am almost 260 pounds now. My goal is to get down to 190 lbs and have a BBL and tummy tuck that I already booked for next year.

How did you change your eating habits?
I started by cutting out all fried foods, sodas, snacks, and bad carbs. After doing all that, I incorporated shakes and began joining challenges, whether it was walking or taking the steps (because I lived in apartments).

Initially, my shakes were Slim-Fast, but there were only three flavors, and I got tired. So I switched to Beachbody, and the shakes were nasty to me. Then I switched to Herbalife. Ever since I’ve been with Herbalife, I’ve learned more and gained more nutrition knowledge. I even became a certified nutritionist and certified health coach.

I love donuts, pizza, and waffles, so with the shake mix, I made everything I wanted (foods that, in the past, would have messed up my eating habits). I detox once a week and meditate to refocus my brain, etc.

What is your workout routine?
My workout routine was walking every evening for about three months. I lost almost 80 lbs and began incorporating workout programs. I started doing P90X with Beachbody. I completed the program, losing a hundred pounds, so I kept going.

What is your height?
My height is 5’4″.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is not to starve myself because I did that for a while, and the scale didn’t move. Sometimes it’s best to focus on non-scale victories because you can work out so hard all week, get on the scale and see that it didn’t move…which can cause you to be discouraged.

I’ve also learned to do what’s best for me because what works for another person may not work for me. Again, I’m speaking from experience. Also, I learned to lift weights because if I had started lifting weights in the beginning, I probably wouldn’t have had to get the skin surgery.

What advice would you like to share?
Join groups and always educate yourself. Read as much as possible, so if anyone tells you something, nine times out of 10, you will have already read it.

Listen to your health coach or doctor but also listen to your body. Don’t get so caught up in cardio and forget that weightlifting is for fat loss, and cardio is for weight loss. Think about fat loss on this journey more than weight loss because long as you’re losing fat, you’re losing weight.

Is weight loss surgery part of your journey?
Weight loss surgery has never been a part of my journey, but I am getting gastric bypass surgery next year since every time I get down to my goal weight, I get pregnant. My doctor told me if I get the gastric bypass, I won’t have to worry about gaining as much weight if I ever get pregnant again. I’m also getting a BBL and tummy tuck next year in Miami. I don’t want to pay for all that and gain the weight back.

I’ve educated myself so much in this journey, and I’m actually in school now to become an RN because I love what I do. This journey also pushed me to open up my recovery care business because I know a lot about surgeries, so now I travel and help dolls around the world.
