Instant Pot Turkey Sausage, Potatoes, & Green Beans Recipe – a flavorful and healthy one-pot dinner for busy weeknights, easy to prep in just minutes!
How To Make Instant Pot Turkey Sausage, Potatoes, & Green Beans
First, gather up all of your ingredients:
- low sodium chicken broth
- red potatoes
- turkey sausage
- frozen green beans
Dice your turkey sausage and cut up your potatoes.
Then just dump everything into your Instant Pot!
Here, I’m using a 6-quart DUO Instant Pot and I highly recommend this model. It always works beautifully for me.
Close your Instant Pot lid, making sure the valve is set to “Sealing.” Select the manual/pressure cook button and set the timer for 3 minutes.
Remember, it takes time for your pot to come to pressure and that time is dependent on a lot of factors (your altitude, how frozen/warm your ingredients are, etc).
This recipe usually takes 15 or so minutes to come to pressure for me in Northern Colorado before it starts counting down the 3 minutes on the timer.
When the timer beeps to alert you the cooking cycle is complete, do a quick release by carefully moving the valve to “Venting.”
Wait patiently for a minute or two while all of the pressure releases (the pin will drop when it’s safe to open) and start enjoying the lovely aroma of garlic and turkey sausage now wafting through your kitchen.
This is how it’ll look when you open your lid.
What Do You Serve With This Meal?
Honestly? Most of the time, I don’t serve anything with it!
It’s truly a one-pot meal. It includes your protein, veggies, starch, and spices, so it really doesn’t need anything else to round out the meal.
Sometimes, I’ll serve a pretzel roll with it as a special treat, but that’s pretty rare.
You could definitely serve it with:
….but, as I said, you don’t really need a side dish for a one-pot meal! That’s the beauty of it.
Keep it simple!
What About Substitutions?
You can always use homemade chicken broth or regular (not low sodium) broth if you’d like. Vegetable broth would also work just fine!
When I’m out of homemade chicken broth, I’ll use water and Better Than Bouillon Roasted Chicken Base. It adds fantastic flavor! I typically use 1 teaspoon with every cup of water.
I love the Hillshire Farms Naturals Turkey Kielbasa, but you’re welcome to use another brand of turkey sausage! Just make sure that it’s already cooked.
You can use any type of cooked kielbasa/sausage you’d like, just beware that the nutritional information will change with sausages that aren’t as lean.
Frozen Green Beans
I recommend you DO NOT use cut green beans. Because they are smaller chunks, they will be overcooked in this recipe and just get mushy.
I haven’t tried this recipe with fresh green beans yet because the whole point of this particular recipe was to keep it as low in prep as possible, so you’re welcome to try fresh, but I don’t have the experience to let you know how they will turn out!
You can absolutely try different potatoes like russet or Yukon gold in this recipe. The cooking time should stay the same, but they may have a slightly different texture.

I love the McCormick Grillmates Roasted Garlic & Herb seasoning, but you’re welcome to play around with the spices in this recipe!
Can You Meal Prep This Recipe?
It saves and reheats really well, so I make a batch of this for my husband and me to eat for lunch throughout the week.
I highly recommend these glass meal prep containers from Amazon.
They are sturdy, heat well, and they are great for appropriate portion sizes! We use them constantly.
- 1 cup low sodium chicken broth
- 12 oz turkey kielbasa (I use Hillshire Farm Naturals), cut into 1/2” coins, then sliced in half
- 24 oz frozen green beans (full beans, not cut green beans)
- 4 cups red potatoes, cut into 1” chunks
- 1 Tbs garlic & herb seasoning (I highly recommend McCormick Grill Mates Roasted Garlic & Herb Seasoning)
- Pour chicken broth into Instant Pot insert.
- Add kielbasa, green beans, and red potatoes.
- Sprinkle the seasoning over the pot and stir.
- Put on the lid, twist to secure, and make sure the valve is set to “Sealing.”
- Click the manual/pressure cook button and set the time for 3 minutes (remember, it will take extra time for the Instant Pot to come to pressure before the timer starts).
- When the cooking time is complete, do a quick release to vent the pressure.
- When the pin has dropped indicating the pressure is release, remove the lid.
- Stir the mixture and serve.
