My name is Chelsea, and I have been on my journey for about two solid years now. I have done everything, from calorie counting to creating my own workout regimen. I just underwent weight loss surgery on May 17, 2022, for the gastric sleeve. Since then, I have lost over 20 pounds and continue to push myself to become the best me.

I just want to let anyone know never to give up, I remember when I thought I couldn’t do it either. My goal is to weigh 180-190 pounds, and I currently am within 80 pounds of my goal weight! I cannot wait to see what happens next.

What has been your motivation?
My weight loss journey was motivated by me just wanting a healthier lifestyle. I was an emotional eater, and food never disappointed or let me down. But, one day, I noticed this wasn’t what I wanted anymore. I didn’t like the image I saw in the mirror. So, what has kept me motivated is seeing the changes turn into results.

How did you change your eating habits?
Before the surgery, I changed my eating habits by calorie cutting/counting and eating at a 500-calorie deficit. I also cut carbs and added more greens into my diet. After the surgery, I don’t eat nearly as much, but when I do, I try to avoid carbs and foods like corn with high starch.

What is your workout routine? How often do you work out?
My current workout routine is six days a week. I go to the gym Monday-Friday before work (doing 1 mile, a set of arm and leg workouts). On Saturday, I freestyle outside with cardio. Sundays are my rest days.

What was your starting weight? What is your current weight?
My highest weight two years ago was around 330 pounds. The last time I weighed myself, I was 260 pounds (1 month follow-up after surgery). My next weigh-in is my 3-month follow-up on August 18.

What is your height?
I am 5’6″.

What is the biggest lesson you’ve learned so far?
The biggest lesson I’ve learned is that it’s not always the weight. You have to love and value yourself no matter what before you can truly be happy.

What advice would you like to share?
The one thing I’d like to give as a takeaway is even if you aren’t motivated, stay consistent. Staying consistent will lead to motivation regardless because it becomes a habit. But, once you break it, it will feel weird!
