Olympic Distance Champ Bobby Finke is Latest Guest on Inside With Brett Hawke Podcast

In the latest episode of the Inside With Brett Hawke Podcast, the two-time Australian Olympian turns the spotlight to American distance star Bobby Finke. A standout at the University of Florida, Finke is coming off a spectacular showing at the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he earned gold meals in the 800-meter freestyle and 1500 freestyle.

Finke became the first American-distance swimmer to win Olympic gold since the 1984 Games in Los Angeles, and he did so via astonishing closing laps. In the 1500 freestyle, Finke closed with a 25.7 split over the last 50 meters. That finishing power is part of the discussion between Finke and Hawke, who has packaged 181 episodes of his podcast and emerged as one of the sport’s top interviewers. Finke’s performances at the United States Olympic Trials in Omaha suggested Finke would be a medal factor in Tokyo.

Finke and Hawke chat about the major time drops the Floridian has enjoyed and also focused on topics ranging from the college season to his training sets and the emotions he felt at the Olympics. Finke and Hawke spoke for nearly an hour, with other topics including workouts with seven-time Olympic gold medalist Caeleb Dressel and his respect for the training of Australian star Ariarne Titmus, who won gold medals in the 200 freestyle and 400 freestyle.
