Mt. Holly Mile Open Water Race to Take Place Near Charlotte Saturday
The second event in the Charlotte Open Water Swim Series will take place Saturday in Mt. Holly, N.C., just west of Charlotte. The Mt. Holly Mile is one-mile race where participants will begin at a boat landing before swimming upstream for a half-mile and then turning around to return to the boat landing.
The event will also include and 800-meter fun swim that is untimed, designed as an opportunity for newer open water swimmers to test their skills or for triathletes to prepare for what they will have to do in their multi-sport races.
The race is the second leg of the 2023 Charlotte Open Water Swim Series, which began May 6 with the O’CRUD swim, which included a 10-mile race and 2.4-mile race, and it will conclude September 30 with the the Charlotte Open Water Championships, which will include a 2-mile race and an 800-meter fun swim. Points are awarded based on athletes’ places in each event, with awards to be given out when the series concludes.
