10 fastest UK parkrun times on 24th September (2022)

Kirsty Longley and Cameron Green ran the fastest parkrun times in the UK this week (24th September).

Our weekly parkrun top ten is sponsored by 1001 Running Tips by our editor Robbie Britton. Want to run faster at parkrun or your next marathon then order your copy today.

Another cracking run for Kirsty Longley this weekend saw her top the women’s rankings with a sub 17 minute outing. At Widnes parkrun in the north west of England, the Liverpool, Pembroke and Sefton Harrier ran 16:52 and it was her first time under 17 minutes for parkrun since 2019.

The fastest male of the week was Cameron Green and he was the only runner under 15 minutes. Up in Victoria Park, Glasgow, the Giffnock North athlete ran 14:56 and clocked a new parkrun PB in the process. The U20 runner hasn’t broken 15 minutes for 5000m or 5k on the road, but did impress with 8:52 for 3000m at the Trafford Grand Prix at the end of August.

Abbie Donnelly of Lincoln Wellington AC was the next fastest woman in 16:54, also breaking the landmark of 17 minutes this weekend. Donnelly, who has simply rapid 5000m and 5k Pbs of 15:42 and 16:07, to go along with a parkrun best of 15:52, which is one of the best we’ve seen at a parkrun worldwide.

All happening in Aber

At Aberystwyth parkrun in Wales, Janoš Vranek was the second fastest male for Saturday with 15:08. The Aberystwyth AC athlete looks like he only started running last year and now has new PBs at every single distance including 800, 1500, mile, 5000m, 5k parkrun and 10k and this run brings his parkrun best a little closer to the excellent 14:46 on the road in August.

Hannah Taunton, a British Paralympian in Tokyo 2020, is no stranger to the rankings here and a strong 17:11 puts her third fastest female this weekend and is good to see the Taunton AC athlete running strong after an excellent summer of PBs on the track, with new bests at 800m, 1500m and 3000m.

Lewis Gamble-Thompson was next on the men’s list and ran 15:09 at Redcar parkrun. The New Marske Harrier AC has already ran a new PB of 65:32 for the half this year and might have eyes for his 2:25 marathon PB in there near future.

The fastest event

It looks like, but I might be wrong as it’s late, Eden Project was the only event to feature twice and is therefore our fastest event for the weekend. Well done to Katie Knowles and James Rennie for making that happen with an 8th and 9th place.
