Sophie Wallis topped the rankings this week running her fastest time at Doddington Hall and second fastest all time (behind Abbie Donnelly’s 15:52) over the Lincoln based parkrun . The Lincoln Wellington athlete clocked 16:44 to finish well clear of this week’s second fastest athlete. Her time is two second faster than her official 5km PB coming on the back of a season which saw her finish 4th at Great Grimsby 10km.

Dutch athlete Ruben Sansom was this week’s fastest man running 14:38 to set a new course record at Litteport. Barcelona based Sansom has had an excellent 2022 setting PBs over 1500m (3:47.18), 3000m (8:14.56) and 5000m (14:11.94) so far and took nearly a minute off the previous course record.

Split honours for seconds

Both the men’s and women’s top 10s this week feature athletes clocking the same time, 17:13 for Lauren Cooper and Caitlyn Harvey and 14:55 for Seyfu Jamaal and Harry Smith.

Lauren Cooper is a regular name in our top 10 lists and set her fastest parkrun time of the year at Bryn Bach. The Parc Bryn Bach RC athlete is a prolific racer and was a recent winner of the Welsh Inter Regional Track & Field Championships over 1500m and 2nd place finisher at the Porthcawl 10K in 35:46. Caitlyn Harvey of Annadale Striders also ran 17:13 to share 2nd spot in the rankings with a fine run at Belfast Victoria. Harvey was a 2nd placed finisher at the Larne 10km earlier the month and boasts a parkrun best of 16:34, a time which sees her ranked 10th under 23 on the UK all time list.

Seyfu Jamaal set a 5000m PB at the Finsbury Park 5000’s earlier this month clocking 14:38.22 and 14:55 was his fastest time at Highbury Fields and the 2nd fastest ever over the lapped, undulating course behind Jacob Allen’s 14:50. He shared second spot this week with Bournemouth AC’s Harry Smith who made the short journey to Salisbury to set a new course record and run his second fastest parkrun ever also running 14:55.

Under 15 Emer Mckee holds the record for the fastest UK parkrun from an under 13 with an incredible 16:44. This week her 17:13 was enough for equal fourth spot in our weekly rankings. The Willowfield athlete won the 2km race at the World Athletics Northern Ireland International and the Irish Schools’ Championships this year. Callum Hanlon was fourth in the men’s rankings as he set a new course record and a new parkrun PB with 15:02 at Warwick. Hanlon set a big 5km PB at the Friday Night Under the Lights 5km in April this year running 14:24.
